Bake a Doggy Cake with The Pet Gourmet

Is your dog's birthday coming up?

We know how much you love your dog and we know you want to make that day special for them. With our Bake at Home Birthday Cake Mix, you will be able to create a doggone delicious birthday cake for your pup with just a few ingredients and little effort! Less time in the kitchen means more time for birthday snuggles!

What You'll Need:

The Pet Gourmet Birthday Cake Mix:

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Greased 8 in Round Cake Pan
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 Cup + 1 tsp Water

Icing Mix

  • Small Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 3 tbs water
  • or to make a thicker frosting: 1 cup plain yogurt

Let's begin like any true recipe and preheat that oven to 350 degrees.

Next, grab your mixing bowl, empty your cake mix into the bowl, and add your water, and vegetable oil.

Grease your cake pan and place your batter evenly in the pan.

Pop your pan in the oven and bake for 25-28 minutes. While you're waiting, take Birthday Selfies with your dog.

At 25 minutes, check your cake with a toothpick and if it comes out clean, take it out and let it cool in the pan. The edges of your cake should pull away from the pan. If it still raw in the center, bake for additional 3 minutes and check again.

While your cake is cooling, mix up your icing. Simply add water or yogurt to your icing mix in a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Once your cake has completely cooled, pour the icing on the cake and smooth with a spoon or spatula.

You can remove the cake from the pan or keep it in. If your pan was well greased and your cake is cooled then it should remove easily. If you're nervous, leave it in the pan. Your dog won't mind.

Spiff it up! Feel free to add fun toppings to your dog's cake. Here are some ideas:
